Battle for Flatland

Battle for Flatland

Rise up against the High Priests of Flatland, together.

A cooperative boss fighting game: a tank, a healer and damage dealers against the tyrants of Flatland. Learn their abilities, play your role, and bring them down in fights that last minutes, not evenings.

Beta Free and open source, now in beta. Already have LÖVE 12? Get the .love file.

The game is not signed yet: Windows may warn you about it ("More info", then "Run anyway"), and macOS asks you to allow it in System Settings, under Privacy & Security ("Open Anyway").

Raids, without the grind

The feeling of a raid

A tank who holds the boss, a healer who keeps everyone standing, damage dealers who race against the clock, and a boss whose abilities you learn and counter together.

No farming, ever

No gear to collect, no levels to grind: everyone starts on an equal footing, and all that matters is how you play together.

Made for short sessions

No long preparation: create a game, take your places, fight. A fight lasts minutes, so it fits between two bedtime stories, and it's fine to stop when the kids call.

Never short of players

No healer tonight? Fill the team with bots. And learn any class in the tutorial, with a practice fight against the first boss.

The story

Flatland (from Edwin A. Abbott's novel) is a world in two dimensions, where the inhabitants are polygons.

At the bottom of its hierarchy are the isosceles triangles. Generation after generation, they grow closer to the equilateral triangle. From then on, each generation gains one more side, and climbs one rank higher.

At the very top are the Circles: polygons with so many sides that no one can tell them from a circle. They are the High Priests.

But lately, a rot has spread among the High Priests. No longer the good shepherds they used to be, they abuse their powers and oppress the people of Flatland.

A band of humbler polygons (Triangles, Squares, Pentagons and Hexagons) has risen against them. You are one of these rebels, and you strike first!

The High Priests are incredibly powerful, though: no one can defeat them alone. You fight them with your companions, and each of you has a role to play.

Four classes, four roles

Triangle

Melee damage

Fights in contact with its enemies, spends its energy on big hits, and controls the adds.

Square

Tank

Keeps the boss' attention and takes its blows, behind a shield it keeps building up.

Pentagon

Ranged damage

Shoots its enemies from afar, aims its bullets and zones, and dispels nasty debuffs.

Hexagon

Healer

Keeps everyone alive, with a big but slowly regenerating pool of mana to manage.
